Great product to try in these times where salons are closed. I don't think I left it on long enough the first time I applied it (like 6 min), but left it on for double the amount the second time and it covered the gray better. Still trying to perfect my application technique (thick curly hair and sectioning is a bit of a challenge), but I'm happy to have this product to experiment with. Two applications and I still have more left in the can. Will leave it on a bit longer with the next application. Shipping turnaround time was awesome!

During these virus times if you don't want to go to a black market hairdresser this product is the perfect solution. I purchased 5n & 6rb to match my current color. My first application I left on for 40 minutes but I did another application around my face and at my part line and left on 1 hour to get a sufficient coverage on my grey grow out. Not only covering my grey the product conditions your hair. Not sure if I could do this on my own so it helps to have another person to get to the hard to reach/see areas.
Great product during these current virus times. It's nice to not have to wear a hat for a cover up!

I bought this product on recommendation from your Hair Care specialist. We discussed the Goldwell color intensity my hair dresser had been using (before the mandatory lockdown for Covid-19). Your associate suggested I use this product and to to go 1 down from the color Intensity my hairdresser used so as not to darken the color already there.
Although, this product did not completely cover the grey, and by this I mean even after applying it dry and leaving it on for 30 minutes before rinsing out (only using conditioner, not shampoo for the 1st day), the greys were muted, but not completely covered! The grey began to become more apparent within a short time/ a few washings, but because all the color was well blended, it was very livable.
What I really like about this product was: It blended the color of the new hair growth as if I had been seen my hairdresser, I even received compliments from her when I finally saw her last week because the color matched (the few people she had seen who tried to care for their color themselves, she told me had really botched their hair color, esp. having used boxed colors from pharmacies, etc).
I loved that this product gave my hair lots of beautiful texture. It took me a time or 2 to learn to apply it uniformly (do wear gloves or be forewarned it will also color your hands). Once I got used to uniformly applying the mousse, I would take a comb to part my hair and then use my finger(s) to spread the mousse over the new hair growth; it really was very easy to apply.
The results of using this product helped me get through 4 months without seeing my hairdresser. I definitely will continue to use this product when I can't get to my hairdresser on time!!

I've used this product for years to cover sparse gray in my dark brown hair. It consistently lasts about 8 shampoos for me. People often ask me if I have highlights I use either the 6B or 6N. I started using at the salon, but now keep it on hand and apply between hair appointments if needed. Great product!

Great product for toning out yellow brass. I'd say if you have orange brassy hair after bleaching, this may not be strong enough to neutralize that. But, it worked great on my yellow tones. I've used it twice now, and I still have more left.

My hairdresser recommended Sahara Blonde mousse to add highlights to my now grey/white hair. After a demo, I ordered some to use at home and have been pleased with my new look. I can add a touch here and there on my damp or dry hair. No issues with it rubbing off on clothes or pillows! It works so well a friend started using for grey touch-ups on his sideburns!.

When I sweat or wake up from sleeping my face has the dye on my face when I take a cotton ball and toner to my face. It does not cover gray roots temporarily either, though it says it does. Very messy for white tiles in the shower. Is not a good product.

After growing three inches of 80-90% grey roots during the shelter in place, it was time for an intervention. My hair is a medium brown, usually a Goldwell level 7ish with highlights that are almost grown out. After consulting with my stylist (and testing a strand), I mixed these colors half and half and applied as directed to damp hair. I left it on for 10 minutes then rinsed.
The result was hair that was slightly darker with a cooler tone than desired but overall an OK hob. It doesn't cover grey well but (in my case) blended it enough to be passable. My goal was not to get a weird color, especially on the roots. I'd use it again with a lighter color but there may be no way to achieve a warm tone. I'm not gonna mess with red given that the grey roots could turn pink!
It's a little messy but you expect that when applying color. The foam is too thin to apply with a brush (I tried). Wear and old shirt and use gloves and a towel you don't care about and you'll be fine.

I expected more from this product. The color was nice and soft, over my previously dyed (Goldwell only, for years) blonde. But it seemed not to touch the gray areas at all. Left it on 15 minutes the first time, 30 the second. I wish I could say more.

During this horrible time, not salons open and the gray keeps growing. I've tried Style Edit for root coverage. I choose black as
my hair is a dark brown(colored) with 90% gray. It worked ok but only darkening the gray. I tried another product by Tressa other than give my hair a few highlights did nothing for the gray. Now I tried this Goldwell Soft Color 5N the darkest shade and it didn't work well. I will try this one more time, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Is there any product besides a permanent color that will help if you are a dark brunette? Goldwell is a good product. They should make darker shades also. I would try it again only if they made a few shade darker.

i go to a salon and have goldwell colorance on the length of my hair. which is long and very thick. way too long right now. when roots grow in silervy things we call them. she uses Goldwell Top Chic. the colors she uses ar 6n and 7n for a dark blonde result. between root retouch i like to touch up the places that show the silver strands. have beeing using Color WOW. powder, but i wanted to try this after a rep told me it can be used for root cover. i did it last night. and Wow does it work well. i thought the conditioning aspect would make the hair limp or oily but it doesn't. it bleands seamlessly. i am so glad i tried this.and it really colors well left it on between 15 and 20 min. rinse off, and done. beautiful result. use this for retouch of roots. It Wokrs Wonderfully! very happy

I use after washing my hair, just on the roots to cover gray -- while it doesn't completely cover, it does a great job of blending. This is good for light brown hair; the light brown mousse color (5N) is pretty dark. I just put a little leave in conditioner over it, then blow dry. Sometimes I use a little of each, 7N and 5N.

I was so hopeful this product would cover even if oh so slightly my grey & it did absolutely nothing. I followed the instructions to the letter & actually left it on for 20 minutes. After rinsing my hair & drying it, there was absolutely no difference in my hair. I hate to say it because I'm a big fan of Goldwell but this product did nothing for me.

My first time trying this superb GOLDWELL product was a big-time YES,YES,YES! I am an icy-platinum blonde, fine hair, with one inch roots due to this Covid-19 pandemic, just like you all. That shared, this is a big WOW. Used it 3 days ago, will use it again in one day, then I am sure much less often. It did make a BIG difference after one use, albeit, massage into my roots for 15 minutes then into the rest of my layered above shoulder length hair for another 30 minutes. Of course, I expect usage will be less often with regular use. After my one time, my all-over hair was soft, shiny, with much less gold above the root area, and my roots were lightened, nice! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SEMI-PERMANENT HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT!!!

Product is not the same as Goldwell COLORANCE Soft Color. It does not come out of the canister as foam - more runny. It also stained my scalp a reddish brown, which took two shampooings to eliminate. If I use the supply I purchased, it will be on hair only, so probably won't give complete coverage.

I am purchasing Gold Blonde and Sahara Blonde today but had 6N Dark Blonde and just used it. My hair is a subtle ashy green on all the highlights. I should have know because the foam comes out of the can a grayish green color and yup it turns the blonde streaks greyish green. It's okay since it washes out, but it is not for blonde hair at all. I would say if you are an ashy person and like that but under fluorescent lights it's really ugly. Sorry, just reporting!

I use this color as well as copper brilliant mixed together at times and i love it so much I have been using it for many years. It hides the gray in between colorings and I have used it to color my whole hair as well when necessary. The color fades so gradually and I love the intensity of the reds.

I am finally getting a noticable amount of gray among my brown hair at the age of 63. I don't mind the gray per se, but I don't like the fact it drabs down the entire look of my hair. I'm just not ready to start coloring in any serious way, but wanted something to blend in the gray....something temporary, something like a color rinse, which no one seems to make anymore. Finally I came across Goldwell Soft Color after reading about it on a message board.
This is a unique product and it does exactly what I want at this stage in the game. It subtly blends in the grays, not covering entirely but making my entire head of hair look richer in color and shinier. My hair still looks natural but better.
I love this product, and was a little upset when I couldn't find dark brown or medium brown, but I tried light brown and it does the trick. I'm going to order more soon, as I don't want to be without it. I am concerned however that Goldwell seems to be discontinuing certain brown shades that I need.
I highly recommend this color foam to any one trying to tone down gray, enrich their own color, or refresh their color in between salon colorings.

I love this product for covering my gray roots. I have to add 5N. Since my hair is so white, the color comes out a few shades lighter than the color sample shows, and it is pretty red. When I add the brown, it tones it down and works really well. I also loved the 4G, and was sorry that was discontinued, because I had just discovered it and I only needed one color with that. My hair dresser was told this product was no longer being made, and I was so excited when I got to your web site and found it is still being sold. Thanks for carrying it!

I purchased this product, because although I go to a salon to have my hair colored, I needed something for the regrowth. White roots plus red hair color is not a pretty thing. The roots did not absorb all of the red color, but it is a great help because the roots blend in nicely with a gentle pale red on the roots. On the rest of my hair it boosted the color. So happy to have found this product.

I originally used this color, but found I needed a bit more color, so am now using 8G Gold Blond, which is more golden. I like to mix the colors, so am looking for a darker color to go with 8G. My hairdresser used a darker color with 9GB and it worked well. It is difficult to pick colors from the selection on line. Wish the samples were larger. I don't have any grow-out with this kind of color. And it doesn't affect my perm.

I bought this product since I had heard that it tones down the brassy red tones. it doesnt take them out completely but it does help and it leaves the hair soft and silky. I just used it for the parts of the highlights that were redish orange and some that were yellowish. the redish ones turned gold and the yellowish started to get a pearl tone wich was actually in my opinion better than the red and yellow before. Not to mention it does way less damage than bleach, and doesn't smell bad.

I was nervous on ordering this online but I've used Goldwell products before and have always been happy and I am glad I did! The color is great, softened my hair (my hair was very damaged from bad coloring at a salon), and it was so easy to do!! I gray quickly after coloring...my sideburns and temple areas have gray peekiing through within 7-10 days. This colors pretty good until a re-touch, but my sideburns are stubborn and it barely covers them. Still, a must have product to clean up the grays when needed.

I love this product. It allows me to color my hair. My hair is gray, and this product is the only one I have found to cover the roots between coloring. The color on my gray hair is lighter than the photo on the web site, so I have gone to the next darker color and it works great. I started with RB6 and prefer the 4G for my hair color, but it looks like the photo for RB 6 on me. My hair stylist introduced me to RB6 and said you no longer made it. I was devastated, and was so delighted to find this was not true!

I like the product. If you could make it more permanent for men especially around the sideburns and temples that would be great. Also if you could make some small color variations (slightly darker brown, light brown with ash, etc.) If you could accomplish making your product last longer after shampoos and conditioners (using shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair right now). You could put a dent in the marketplace increasing market share and enhancing revenues. I would then go on the cable station QVC and show the products on men. You could make a mint!

my hair is porous from repeat bodywaves. I have natrually dark hair but because of the perms and aging my hair is getting a dull lighter color. This product is gentle on my hair and keeps it dark. I also mix colors, I use 4G and 7KG together for a very pretty shade of dark auburn or chestnut.

Thanks to economy, I've had to cut way back on my hair care and the numerous VERY expensive trips to my hair dresser. So, I'm back to Great Clips but spending my money on utensils and product. This is easy to use, has great color and leaves my hair soft. ONly challenge is that it only lasts for a few weeks.

This product is excellent! Having my hair colored red is a real problem, simply because it always fades so fast, especially in the summer because we have a boat and are on the water most of the time. Soft color mousse is a great way to refresh my haircolor in between and it makes my hair shiny and in great condition. I also took another reviewers suggestion and put two colors of Soft Color on because I have highlights, it works fantastic.

I wasn't sure if it made much difference the first time I used it, but after the second try I really like it. I think I may not have been generous enough with the amount used my first time trying it. I had wanted something that would only change the color of my grey hairs which are pretty evenly dispersed throughout my brown hair. I didn't want to change the color of the brown hairs. This seems to work in some ways to that degree.

I have abudant fine hair that I color and perm. I put permanent coloring that is very close to this color-wise on my roots only. Then instead of pulling the permanent color through, I wash the permanent coloring out, condition my hair then, using gloves, I use several puffs of soft color and distribute throughout my hair and let it sit for 5-10 min. Then rinse. It looks great without the peroxide damage I would get with permanent haircoloring. When I need a body boost or color refreshing, I just reapply soft color.. I keep several shades on hand and do experiment and mix the soft colorfoams in a plastic bowl.always keep plastic gloves handy!

I hope this product stays on the market for a very long time. In the mid-80's, I had a bad lightening job (partially due to my using sun-in, then lightened further multiple times at a salon). Being that I am definitely supposed to be a brunette being immediately apparent--looked HORRIBLE. Plus me and peroxide don't mesh. My hair goes brassy with a capital "B"!
I used this above product on my hair, and the more I used it, the more the color returned to a beautiful color and texture. I was able to grow the damaged hair out and gradually return to my normal color.
Now, 20+ years later, I am dealing with too much gray. I remembered this product, and how well it performed on my hair. I was thrilled to see it still available!! I ordered some in Hazel, and it matches the color of my natural hair beautifully!
